What photo manipulation program do you use?
GIMP
About Me:
Professionally, I'm a caregiver. Privately, I am a Master Manipulator! :-)
The GIMP is my hobby. Maybe someday I'll be good enough to sell something. When that day comes, I will be shouting it from the rooftops.

Welcome!

I created this group because I wanted to share techniques, hints and creations with others. I would also like to get a "photoshop tennis" type contest going. I think it would be fun! One of us posts a picture, then the rest of us manipulate it and show off our creations.

Come on in, the water's fine! :-)

Just playing around with the idea of a chocolate leaf, this is what I came up with.
chocolateLeaf

start with a transparent layer
add leaf as layer

The original image I started with is at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3nder/1879229660/

desaturate the colors of the leaf
select the leaf shape
trans layer on top
while selection is active add chocolate color 3b0d00 set to about 60% opacity (I used the fill tool and set it to 60%)
save to channel
deselect it
black layer on top
lighting effects: X:-1 Y:-1 Z:.5
intensity:
ambient 0
diffuse .25
reflectivity:
diffuse 0
specular 5
highlight 5
bumpmap to the selection channel
set black layer to screen
merge down
I didn't like the color so much here, so I played with the brightness:
bright: -54; contrast 43
Now, go for the lighting effects again:
lighting effects -0.04X -1.35Y 0.50Z
glowing 1.00
bright 1.00
shiny 30.00
polished 125.00
bumpmap to selection maximum height 0.05
flatten image and save to .png to keep transparent background

Of course, these are just suggestions. Play with the settings. (I use the GIMP. I only hope the settings translate and make sense to a photoshop user)
